Electrofusion Jointing
Electrofusion socket jointing incorporates an electrical resistance element in the socket of the fitting which, when connected to an appropriate power supply, melts and fuses the materials of the pipe and fitting together.
The effectiveness of this technique depends on attention to preparation of the jointing surfaces. In particular the removal of the oxidised surface of the pipe over the socket depth, ensuring the jointing surfaces are clean and free from contamination.
It is also critical that the assembly and clamping instructions are correctly followed to ensure adequate pressure for correct fusion.
